Pascha — The Resurrection of Christ The Feast of Feasts: the bright resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Nativity of Christ The birth of our Lord in the flesh in Bethlehem. Theophany The baptism of Christ in the Jordan and the manifestation of the Holy Trinity. The Meeting of the Lord The presentation of the infant Christ in the Temple, received by the elder Symeon. The Annunciation The archangel Gabriel announces to the Theotokos the conception of Christ. Palm Sunday — Entry into Jerusalem Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The Ascension Christ's ascent into heaven forty days after Pascha. Pentecost The descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles. The Transfiguration Christ revealed in uncreated light upon Mount Tabor. The Dormition of the Theotokos The falling-asleep and translation of the Mother of God. The Nativity of the Theotokos The birth of the Virgin Mary to Joachim and Anna. The Exaltation of the Cross The finding and lifting-up of the precious and life-giving Cross. The Entry of the Theotokos into the Temple The Virgin Mary brought as a child to dwell in the Temple. Lazarus Saturday Christ raises his friend Lazarus, foreshadowing the general resurrection. Clean Monday The first day of Great Lent. Holy Thursday The Mystical Supper and the institution of the Eucharist. Holy Friday The saving Passion and crucifixion of Christ. Holy Saturday Christ's repose in the tomb and the descent into Hades. All Saints The Sunday after Pentecost commemorating all the saints. The Circumcision of Christ The circumcision of the Lord on the eighth day.
