Habeeb Kheshy

The Reverend Father Habeeb Kheshy (1894-1948) was the son of the hieromartyr Nicholas Kheshy and a parish priest of the Archdiocese of Damascus , the Patriarchal see of the Church of Antioch . He was murdered by a group of Muslim smugglers, who tortured and then killed him for his Christian faith, on July 16 , 1948.
Though he has not yet been canonized by the Church of Antioch , a popular veneration of him exists among the faithful of the Archdioceses of Damascus and Haurun , where he is called "the New Hieromartyr Habeeb."
