Apostle Alphaeus

The holy, glorious, all-laudable Apostle Alphaeus is numbered among the Seventy Apostles . He was the father of the Apostle James and the Apostle Matthew , two of the Twelve Great Apostles . He reposed in peace, and his feast day is on May 26 .
St. Alphaeus is referenced in the Gospels of Matthew (10:3), Mark (3:18), and Luke (6:15), along with a mention in the Acts of the Apostles (1:13).
