The holy, glorious, all-laudable Apostle Fortunatus of the Seventy is commemorated by the Church on June 15 with Achaicus and Stephen , and on January 4 with the Seventy. The Seventy Apostles were chosen and sent forth to preach by Christ ( Luke 10:1).
St. Fortunatus is mentioned by St Paul in I Corinthians 16:17: I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.
Troparion
O holy apostle Fortunatus, entreat the Merciful God that He may grant the remission of sins to our souls.
Kontakion
As a most bright star the church hath for ever acquired thee, O apostle Fortunatus, being enlightened with the grant of a multitude of thy miracles wherefore we call unto Christ: Save, O Greatly-merciful, those who in faith honour the memory of Thine apostle.
